Playing Catch Up

With the start of high school I haven't had any time to do anything besides baseball and school. Repeat that cycle 7 times a week and that leaves me with not much time. I don't think I've blogged since Miller, Beltran, Nova, and Chapman were traded, but as a Yankees fan I'm glad those moves were made. Gary Sanchez proved that he's the real deal, Aaron Judge proved that he can strike out every other at bat, and Tyler Austin... Well he's in the unknown. I haven't done much with my collection with the exception of moving my Clint Frazier bowman chrome autograph and Jorge Mateo gold autograph. I was hesitant at first about moving them, but prices always drop in the offseason and I feel that Mateo might be traded sometime in the near future.

I went out and acquired 3 new cards, one of them being this Ken Griffey Jr national treasures printing plate autograph! This is the only Panini card I have in my collection, but it's also one of the most unique in my collection. Unless something that I fall in love with pops up on eBay, this will most likely be going nowhere. Hopefully I'll still be able to post once or twice a week.

2016 Topps Museum Collection Box Break - Are All Redemptions This Good?

This is my first look at this years museum collection, but it definitely isn't my first look at museum collection. Last year I broke a fair number of boxes of 2015 museum collection, and I thought I'd test my luck with this years museum collection for the first time. School baseball ended on Thursday, so now I don't have baseball everyday until 6:00. That leaves me with a ton of free time, probably too much to the point where I get bored. Anyways, yesterday I took a trip to the my local hobby shop for the first time in a very long time. The last box of cards I bought was back before the season even started in March, and I couldn't resist 2016 museum collection. The only thing that was turning me away from it was the price, but I bit the bullet.

I'll start off with the two parallels from the break. I personally don't like the look of the parallels, and I think if the color was all the way around the card it would look nicer. The little strip of green running across the card just doesn't do it for me. This one is of Bryce Harper though, so that's never a bad thing!

The other numbered parallel in the box was this Billy Hamilton green /199.

I might as well move on to my first hit of the box. The Boston Red Sox continue to show up in my boxes of cardboard... Maybe it's because I'm a Yankees fan. Not only does this feature ONE Red Sox player on the card, but FOUR! Red Sox for everybody!

I'm going to save my second hit for last, and show off my third hit. This triple relic autograph of Brock Holt! At least I can respect Holt.

My final hit was this awesome Hunter Pence patch /35! I've always respected Pence for the way he plays the game, and I'm glad to finally add something of Pence in my collection. I saved the best for last...

This Ken Griffey Jr canvas collection is definitely the nicest looking card of the box. Topps did a great job with the canvas collection cards, as always! Now onto the final card of the box...

Could it be of Dee Gordon? I don't think anybody would want his cards aside from a few Marlins fans,

What about triple crown winner Miguel Cabrera? One could only hope.

Or rookie phenom Miguel Sano?

Kershaw?

Machado...?

Here it is

...

Sandy Koufax Archival Autograph Sepia Parallel Redemption /5! I'm still speechless that I pulled this, and I think this may be my best pull. Not my favorite, but definitely my best. It's a little disappointing that it's a redemption, but who am I to complain about the card? I'll most likely redeem it since it seems as if the regular Koufax archival autograph /25 are already live. As far as I know, the sepia parallels are stunning. If the card comes in time for the National(which I think it will) I'll be bringing it there. Otherwise, I'll be keeping the card. I have a feeling that once I have it in hand I won't want to let it go...!

Love At First Sight...

Finally. Only two days left until spring break, and all my tests are finally done with. I finally have the chance to write up a post! I would have posted a few cards I acquired last week, but I was so caught up with baseball tryouts and math that it had to be put aside. This was one of the cards I acquired last week:

It was the second Harper autograph I was able to own, but I seized the opportunity and took advantage of a sale which allowed my to acquire this beautiful card...

Mariano Rivera 2015 Topps Dynasty autograph /10! I sold the Harper, which allowed me to purchase this Rivera. The picture is a little dark, but the card is absolutely stunning. The picture doesn't do this card any justice. This is the 2nd autograph (on a card) that I now own, and this is by far my favorite. The other holds a lot of sentimental value because I pulled it, but this card is amazing. Rivera's autograph also adds a lot to the card, and you don't see too many Rivera patches in many new products (with the exception of dynasty). This may be my favorite card in my collection. I'm going to be showcasing something on Friday (or Saturday) which I'm extremely excited for. But for now I'm just going to be showing off some of my latest mail.

The Start To An Awesome Mail Week!

I took a break from blogging last week because of school work, and it really payed off. Algebra 1 has been a struggle for me in my last year of middle school, but after all that hard work, I finally got a good grade on my math test! It may be the best feeling besides listening to the sound of a wood bat making contact with a baseball. That sound is heaven. Now onto the main part of the post, the card:

Sandy Koufax 2013 Topps tier one rose ink autograph /25! Koufax has been on my want list for awhile now, and I was finally able to acquire an autograph of the legendary pitcher. Although I'm not a Dodgers fan, it's hard not to like someone that posted a 1.86 ERA with 97 wins in the last 4 years of his career. I will gladly welcome Koufax to my Hall Of Fame collection! This will probably be the only Koufax autograph I'll have in my collection, unless I decide to sell it and buy a Jeter autograph, which I don't think I'll be doing. I'm not sure if this'll be going to BGS next week, mainly because the edges are a bit rough, and I'm thinking this card is a 9/10 at the highest.

Greg Maddux 2015 Triple Threads Deca Booklet eBay Win

So far, I've really liked 2015 Topps Triple Threads. I hated last years, and I wasn't too fond of 2015 Triple Threads, but this year, Topps really has me hooked. The design is pretty much the same, but the patches are better, there are less stickers, and the deca booklets are awesome. Last night, I was surfing eBay to check some 2015 Triple Threads cards, and I came across a few deca booklets, one of them being this Greg Maddux /10.

The bid wasn't that high, with only a few hours left, so I decided to put a max bid of ($) on this awesome card. It's numbered only out of 10, and even though that the autograph is not on card, the trifold aspect, and the patches definitely make up for that. This card features Maddux with a Cubs uniform on, and even though I'd rather have him on the Braves, this card is still really cool. A few hours later, as I was listening to the Cubs game, the bid went up quite a bit, but I still remained the highest, and I ended up winning the auction! I'm really happy with the card, and this will be the Maddux that I keep in my collection, unless I'm able to snag a better one of him in a Braves uniform. I'm just wondering where I'll be able to get a magnetic for this card, because I definitely don't want to grade it, and have the card in one of those gigantic BGS booklet cases...

Nobody Wants An A-Rod Autograph...

Well I do! The first table that I went to on the second day, I dug through a bunch of dime boxes, and picked out about 50 different cards. That's not really what this post is about, it's about a few Alex Rodriguez autographs that I saw in a showcase. One was graded, but the case was cracked open, and the other one was a bit cheaper, and had a bold black signature. I asked about a price, and it seemed fair enough, so I decided to jump on it. Forget about what A-Rod has done in the past, with all the PED scandals, he's a changed person. He's not that jerk that charges the mound, or throws his bat down and argues a bad call, he's now someone that respects the game, just like how Derek Jeter respected the game throughout his career. Jeter was a very different player though, and him and Alex didn't get along very well when they both played together. Anyways, here's the card:

Yet another card I can knock off of my checklist! I haven't seen any on eBay (I have no intentions of getting rid of this card), so I'm guessing the reason why the price was high. This card will definitely be headed to Beckett for grading, and I'm really hoping for a 9.5/10. This card will be staying in this collection as long as I'm a Yankees fan!
