The Walking Dead Season Premier

I only have a few minutes to write, but I definitely need to write something about the Walking Dead. Most baseball card bloggers probably don't watch the Walking Dead, but if any of you do, please comment!

Now you can't blame me if I tell you something that you haven't watched. Last chance.

*****SPOILERS*****

I love to read the comic books, and sometimes you sort of expect things like this, but I did not expect Tyreese to die at all. He was one of the main characters in the comic, and show, and even though both Tyreese charters died, they died completely different deaths. In the comic book, the governor kills him, and in the show, he gets bitten by a zombie. This episode was one of the best episodes in a very long time, but that's just my opinion. I mainly posted about this so I could hear other peoples thoughts.

  1. Absolutely awesome episode last night. I loved how they kicked it off with the preview of everything that was going to come next in the episode- it made you think it was Beth's funeral. Tyreese was a good character in both the comics and in the show but I think his time had come on the show where he couldn't keep surviving unless he dropped the morals he was believing in. It's perverted that the people with good conscience have to die, but his decisions not to kill ultimately cost the group a few times, and like everyone said in the episode, he's now in a better place. I always liked him, and will miss him, but I thought it was one of the best episodes in a long time and very unique.

  2. You knew it was coming. As they noted on Talking Dead, being the "moral compass" on TWD is like being a redshirt on Star Trek. Even though it was a beautiful episode, I wish they'd put it off for a few. Coming one after the other, Tyreese's death was practically overshadowed by Beth's.

  3. Did anyone else notice when Glen picked up the bat??? Did anyone else notice that? I thought that was very interesting, and with the group heading to Washington, I think we may see Negan and Lucille sometime soon. I'm a little behind on the comic books, but I'm going to the store this weekend to catch up!

  4. Have never read the comics but love the show. I usually love the character development type episodes, where many object to them, but this particular episode was a little off for me. I just thought they overdid the visuals, the visions and so on.

For the most part, I think the show has actually picked up steam through the years.

Hated to see Tyreese go last night but wasn't overly surprised. I think the only shocking deaths for me from this point on would be if they actually killed off Rick or Daryl.

  5. I knew somebody was going to die because someone involved with the show - I think it was Kirkman - said that it would be a episode that people would think was great, but at the same time people would not be happy... and he was right.

I have to admit, I'm a little concerned about the the series... I'm not sure how they're going to keep things interesting. I still find the show entertaining, but I feel like it's going to need some sort of major change to the greater story, something that significantly changes things for the group or humanity in general. Otherwise, it runs a danger of becoming "fight off zombies, fight off evil humans, run, run, run, lose a character, lather, rinse, repeat."

...Although I am mildly intrigued as to why someone would cut walkers (or humans?) in half, leave the lower halves outside of the fence, and load all the armless upper halves in a truck.

I'll go one up on Potch's comment: Only Daryl's death would shock me, being that he's become so popular. Everybody else is clearly a candidate to be a "special guest" on Talking Dead.

  6. I do agree that it's repeating, but I think it's in a good way. Some changes from the comic to the show were awful, like Dale, or the governor, but It all turned out okay. I'll be excited to see what happens in Washington, and how Sasha survives with the losses of Bob and Tyreese. What I also find interesting is what happened to everyone at that place that Beth and Noah wanted to go to, it looks like the a person like the Governor did something like that... If you haven't read the comic books, I would highly recommend them, it's almost a completely different story, although their are some ties. I'm actually re-watching the episode again, and picked up some things. What I don't understand is how did Michonne get her sword back to chop off Tyreeses' arm, and why did she just cut off the part where the zombie bit him? She could've chopped off more to help with the spread of infection. I hate how Noah contributes to nothing... Carl can do more...
