A Package From William

William, over at "Foul Bunt," emailed me and asked if he could sent a care package over my way. Not knowing what to expect, I came home from school last Wednesday, I think, and I saw my mom had a cube shaped package for me when I got in the car. Again, not knowing what to expect, I opened it up and read the note. I saw that it was a signed baseball! I opened it up, and saw that it was of 4 year Yankee manager, Buck Showalter! I don't have any autographs of Buck in my collection, and I'm really happy to have this Buck Showalter baseball. It definitely made my day!

Thank you so much William for the baseball!

Learning More About The New York Yankees - #3

Jim Bronstad

Theirs not much to say about Jim Bronstad. He pitched 93.2 innings, had 45 strikeouts, a 1-7 record, and a 5.48 ERA. He had an 0-3 record with the Yankees, which isn't exactly what you would call MLB worthy. His career only lasted 3 years.

The Walking Dead Season Premier

I only have a few minutes to write, but I definitely need to write something about the Walking Dead. Most baseball card bloggers probably don't watch the Walking Dead, but if any of you do, please comment!

*****SPOILERS*****

*****SPOILERS*****

Now you can't blame me if I tell you something that you haven't watched. Last chance.

*****SPOILERS*****

I love to read the comic books, and sometimes you sort of expect things like this, but I did not expect Tyreese to die at all. He was one of the main characters in the comic, and show, and even though both Tyreese charters died, they died completely different deaths. In the comic book, the governor kills him, and in the show, he gets bitten by a zombie. This episode was one of the best episodes in a very long time, but that's just my opinion. I mainly posted about this so I could hear other peoples thoughts.

Learning More About The New York Yankees - #2

Al Wickland

Al Wickland also had a very short career, and I didn't find much information about him. Wickland played in the majors for 5 years, and had a .270 career batting average. He also stole 58 bases and only got caught 4 times, all of them being in his first year in the major leagues. He appeared in 26 games for the Yankees, while posting an unimpressive .152 batting average.

Kalalau Trail In Kawaii

This upcoming summer my whole family (and more) is going to Hawaii. 5 members of my family are going on the Kalalau trail, and I'm still trying to convince them that I'm able to go. I'm getting there...

Hopefully by August I'll be fully healed and ready to do everything that I do again, which included hiking, baseball, running and a bunch of other stuff. Although I do understand that it is a very hard trail, and it is very dangerous, I'm determined to let my parents know that I'm able to do it. Even if I don't end up going on the trail, I want them to know that I'm able to do stuff like this in the future. It's 11.5 miles there, and 11.5 miles back, so around 23 miles roundtrip. It's not something you do in a day, or even two days. Part of me wants to go, but part of me wants to leave everything be, and not ruin anything. This isn't really baseball related, but I've done quite a bit of research on this, and I want to hear some other opinions.

The scenery looks beautiful, and I'm look forward to (hopefully) going on the hike, or if not, going to Hawaii.

Learning More About The New York Yankees - #1

I did not come up with this idea, all credit goes to, "Red Cardboard!" Thank you so much for this awesome idea! Anyways, If I continue this daily, I should have over 1,500 of these, but I don't think that's going to happen. It may happen. On with #1!

Ray Francis
I honestly don't even know if this is a picture of Ray Francis, he has no pictures.

Ray Francis played for the Yankees for 1 year and had a 7.71 ERA in 4 games, and 4.2 innings pitched. He wasn't really known for his baseball ability's though. His only baseball card appeared in 1921 when he was pitching for Seattle in the Pacific Coast League. In 1922, Ty Cobb had warned him not to pitch inside to him, and he hit him with a fastball. Both of them fought, and then fought later outside the stadium, which I find very interesting. Francis also gave up a home run to Babe Ruth, and gave up to Lou Gehrig's first RBI, which I find really fascinating. Theres one thing that really stands out to me though. Ray Francis gave all of his baseball income to the needy, and bought clothes and pay bills for complete strangers. What he didn't do on the field, he made up for off the field!

This only took me about 15 minutes, and it's something really fun to do! You learn something everyday!

It's Been A While

Mariano Rivera will be appearing at the White Plains show in March. Although he does charge a very steep price, I plan on going. He charged $300 a ticket which may seem outrages, but it's actually a really good price.

I'll probably have to sell some cards if I want to get an inscription to go along with the autograph ticket, but it's definitely worth it to see Mo. The only problem is, what do I get signed? I'm usually fine with getting multiple items signed by players at the white Plains show, so I was think about a Rivera jersey, my Gehrig jersey, and an over-sized photo. For $400, I don't think I'll have a problem getting 3 items signed by the all time saves leader. On the jersey, I would probably have him inscribe it, "Enter Sandman," and, "652 saves." Besides, the money will probably go to the Mariano Rivera Foundation.
